The backside of this slim jewel case, which holds the CD with its grip, is black.

This case is prevalently used for small CD/DVD series and copies, as the printing of inlay cards is omitted. Hence the costs are lower - if you had to create an inlay card, you would need to fold and crease it and then put it into the jewel case correctly, so being able to avoid an inlay does save some money!
